Wake Up Caught Up: A World Cup Morning Briefing From Your Agent

A daily World Cup briefing with your team first — results, fixtures in your timezone, and storylines, ready before breakfast. Set up in one conversation, no connections required.

by The Agency

The 2026 World Cup is finally here, and it's being played in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Wonderful for football. Terrible for sleep in Europe.

Seen from Sweden, kickoffs run from 18:00 to 06:00 the next morning, and the latest games finish around 08:00. Sweden's three group matches start at 04:00, 19:00, and 01:00 Swedish time. One of those is civilized. The other two are a choice between football and a functioning brain the next day.

I'm not setting a 03:45 alarm for the group stage — but I also refuse to find out the score eleven hours later, from a colleague, in a meeting. So my agent handles the catching up: a fresh briefing waiting at 07:00, every morning of the tournament.

The entire setup

I sent my agent one message:

Sample prompt
Help me create a workflow that runs every morning at 07:00. Search the web for the latest FIFA World Cup 2026 results and news, then write me a morning briefing: Start with Sweden: their latest result with a short summary, where they sit in their group, their next match with date and kickoff time in Swedish time, and any squad news. Then the rest of the tournament: all results from yesterday and overnight, today's and tonight's fixtures with kickoff times in Swedish time, and two or three storylines worth knowing. Keep it short and skimmable — I read this over breakfast.

That's it. No code, no APIs, nothing to install. Web search is built into every agent, so there wasn't even an account to connect. My agent saved a workflow called "World Cup 2026 Morning Briefing," scheduled it for 07:00 daily, and confirmed exactly what it would deliver.

What the agent does every morning

While I sleep, matches finish in Texas, Mexico, and California. Before I'm up, my agent:

  1. Runs fresh web searches for the latest World Cup results and news
  2. Builds the Sweden section first — latest result, where they sit in Group F, their next match with kickoff in Swedish time, and any squad news
  3. Collects every result from yesterday and overnight, with scores
  4. Lists today's and tonight's fixtures, already converted to Swedish time
  5. Picks two or three storylines actually worth knowing
  6. Saves it all as a report — waiting in Reports before my coffee is done

What a briefing actually looks like

Here's a real one from this week, lightly abridged:

Sample report

Sweden

  • Latest Result: The tournament just kicked off, so Sweden hasn't taken the pitch for their opener yet. Their final warm-up match was a 2-2 draw against Greece on June 4.
  • Group Standing: They sit tied with 0 points in Group F alongside Tunisia, the Netherlands, and Japan before their first match.
  • Next Match: Sweden vs. Tunisia — Monday, June 15 at 04:00 Swedish time (CEST).
  • Squad News: Manager Graham Potter will be leaning on the firepower of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres. As you might remember, Herman Johansson was brought in late to replace the injured Emil Holm, and unfortunately, Dejan Kulusevski is missing the tournament entirely due to injury.

Rest of the Tournament

  • Yesterday & Overnight Results:
    • Mexico 2 - 0 South Africa (Group A)
    • South Korea 2 - 1 Czechia (Group A)
  • Today & Tonight's Fixtures:
    • Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina — Tonight at 21:00 Swedish time.
    • USA vs. Paraguay — Overnight at 03:00 Swedish time.
  • Key Storylines:
    • The Hosts Start Strong: Mexico gave their home crowd exactly what they wanted, setting a great tone with a comfortable opening-day win.
    • Attendance Debates: Even with South Korea pulling off an impressive win against European opposition, FIFA is already having to defend the attendance figures for that match.

Look at the kickoff times. Every one is already converted to Swedish time. That "Monday, June 15 at 04:00" line? In Monterrey, where the match is actually being played, it's still Sunday evening. The agent does the date math so I don't have to — exactly the kind of thing I would get wrong on my own at 23:30.

Make it your team

The prompt has two knobs that matter: the team and the timezone. Change those and it's yours:

Start with England: their latest result with a short summary, where they sit in their group, their next match with date and kickoff time in UK time, and any squad news.

Mexico and Mexico City time, Japan and Japanese time, Scotland and a strong drink. Everything else stays the same. The schedule is a knob too: the very latest games finish around 08:00 Swedish time, so completists may want their briefing at 09:00 instead. And if your team didn't qualify, pick the rival you want to keep an eye on — the briefing works just as well for schadenfreude.

It works for any season

The World Cup ends in July. The pattern doesn't:

  • Champions League nights. Results, standings, and your club's next fixture, ready the morning after every matchday.
  • A Formula 1 season. Qualifying and race results with start times in your timezone, ready the morning after every Grand Prix weekend.
  • The NHL playoffs. Half of Sweden follows a team that plays at 02:00 our time. Same prompt, different sport.
  • An election cycle. Overnight developments and what's scheduled today, summarized before work.

Anything that happens on the other side of the planet while you sleep is a candidate.

The best part

Sweden kick off against Tunisia at 04:00 on Monday morning. I will be fast asleep. At 07:00, the briefing will tell me whether to pull up the highlights with my breakfast or to quietly avoid the sports pages for a day.

The whole thing took one message to set up, and it runs for the rest of the tournament. That's what a personal agent is for.
